Daan Dierickx has been working as a staff member at the Department of Hematology of the University Hospitals Leuven, Belgium since 2006.
His main clinical areas of interest include rare aggressive lymphomas, immune mediated hematological disorders, apheresis, pregnancy-related hematological disorders and care for adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with cancer. In 2013 he defended his PhD thesis entitled ‘Posttransplant lymphoproliferative disorders: towards an integrated approach’.
His current research interest mainly focuses on gaining better insights in the pathogenesis of rare aggressive lymphomas and searching for new potential therapeutic targets. Daan Dierickx is author and co-author of several publications in international peer reviewed journals including The New England Journal of Medicine, Blood, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Nature Communications and American Journal of Transplantation.
He also is one of the co-authors of the chapter on immune deficiency related lymphoproliferative disorders of the new World Health Organization classification (WHO-HAEM5). In addition, he has extensive teaching activities at the Catholic University Leuven and since October 1st 2023 he has been appointed university internship master in internal medicine at the University Hospitals Leuven.
